Remember the time when you hoped for another single/video from your favorite artist only to find out the project was done and a new album was underway. Well with the ever changing music industry, a new trend is being set. Top albums from 2 to 3 years ago continue to remain a strong presence on the Billboard charts(Hannah Montana, Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flats, Nickelback, Daughtry)
My Chemical Romance's album "The Black Parade" was released on October 24, 2006 and was quickly Certified Platinum on the strenght of the first single "Welcome To The Black Parade". Follow up singles included "Famous Last Words" and "Teenagers". The Black Parade Tour with Rise Against, Thursday, and Muse as supporting acts was very successful and My Chem shows no signs off slowing down.
On September 24, 2007, the group's lead vocalist Gerard Way has stated the group plans to release two more singles from The Black Parade, both of which will feature music videos directed by Way himself. Mama will be released on January 11th, 2008.
Can we expect others artist to do the same?
Singer Fergie is currently on her 4th single/video "Clumsy"
A sign of the times
